Well worth the purchase I own the JVC GR-DV2000U Camcorder (best camcorder I've ever owned). The only disappointment I've had with the camera was its slight underperformance in low light conditions. This video light takes care of this. It will come on automatically when the ambient light drops too much. A feature wich not only saves batteries but also makes for extremely easy use. You CAN set the light to always on mode (or off), but I never do.At first I was concerned about the coverage of the light. Don't get me wrong, it is very bright but it's not going to illuminate an entire room and it shouldn't. Besides, it already sucks the batteries, any brighter and your battery life would drop to nothing. The lumination it provides is perfectly balanced for the shooting of video in low light conditions. The final point I want to make is that this thing is TINY and it looks great mounted on the camcorder. Great little fill light. Great automatic fill light - powered by the camera. Only problem is that they are virtually unavailable anymore. I guess it is satisfactory I don't want to complain about this product, because it is popular and does what it says (it's a light for the camera) but if you are thinking this thing might take out the shadows that you don't want on your subject - that's not going to happen. It's just not bright enough to compete with the ambient lighting you would normally have anyway, unless you get uncomfortably close - and then you'll get an unwanted hot-spot from the beam. I haven't found the best practical purpose for this light. I still use it, and yes, it works, but eh... I wish there were another choice.
