Wider is better Having a wide angle lens attached is awesome! It's a must have accessory. I went with this model as opposed to the upgraded more expensive type and I'm satisfied, although I'm not overly qualified. Fits on my dcr-dvd403 perfectly as isn't so big it's in the way. A must have, but you get what you pay for... A must have in my opinion for any camcorder. I'm using this model with a Sony DCR-HC96. The reason for the 3 stars is quality, while the price is cheap, so are the optics here and that shows in your videos to some extent. Still better to have the "full picture" at a slight loss of sharpness but my older "cheapo" Sony wide angle lens degraded the video quality to a lesser extent on my previous Sony camcorder. While 'that' older unit surprised me in quality for the price, this one is clearly priced right, you're getting what you paid for. My main gripe, and it has little to do with the lens itself, is that it shadows the flash on the Sony DCR-HC96 being positioned so close to the lens. If that's the 'standard' of Sony camcorders with flashes, then keep in mind you'll likely need to remove the lens any time you need to use the flash for taking photos. I have not noticed any evident distortions at full wide angle which is good. A filter thread would have been a nice addition, a feature that is lacking even in the higher end conversion lenses from Sony. That said, if you have a camcorder without a wide angle lens you must get one, if you're not willing to dish out over a hundred for the higher quality one, this will serve you very well. nice lens This wide angle lens works better than I expected. I bought this for my Sony HC-96. It increases the field by about 30%. I was able to sit in the front row of a children's musical and still fit all the kids on the stage in the frame. I had expected edge distortion but it's not that noticeable unless you carefully look for it. I suspect that it interferes with autofocus at times during zooming as the focus seems to fluctuate a little bit on high zoom. It's useful in tight quarters when you need a wide angle shot.

Sony LCS-X20 Soft Carrying Case for most Sony Camcorders
From Sony

This very stylish soft-sided case keeps your Sony handycam camcorder safe and has a modular interface for attaching accessories.
Color: Black Brand: Sony Model: LCS-X20 Dimensions: 5.63" h x 7.13" w x 8.13" l, .60 pounds

Perfect size for my Sony Camcorder CDR-DVD810 This case is just the right size for my Camcorder. I also will carry my 10 Meg digital camera in it. Has enough room for some blank DVDs and batteries. I will store the chargers and other wires in a seperate bag. Sony Case Lacking Nice size bag for all the items you would need for your camera, however, it does not have any pockets/slots for the various items and everything is just piled in the bag. Large Carrying Case This case is larger than expected (double the size of one at Walmart that looks just like it), but probably true to specifications (which I obviously didn't think through). More space, however, allows me to carry more...such as my regular digital cameras, small tripod, batteries, and chargers, so it will make a good storage case or case for trips requiring all of the above. Good quality. Made nicely. Seems sturdy. Would recommend as long as one wants a larger case for their small handycam. (I have the DCR-SR45.)

Deluxe Accessory Kit for the Sony Handycam Camcorder DCRSR220
From Ace Photo Digital

THE COMPONENTS OF THIS ACCESSORY KIT HAVE BEEN SELECTED TO ENHANCE THE EXPERIENCE AND ENJOYMENT OF THE SONY DCR-SR200
Brand: Deluxe Dimensions: 11.00 pounds

Battery doesnt work! I bought this kit for my mom for Christmas. It went with the DCR-SR220. She put the battery from this kit in her camera today, and on the cameras screen, it flashed a warning to not use that battery in the camera. I wouldnt recommend this kit to anyone for anything. The bag and tripod are great, but everything else is a bit junky.

Sony ECMZ37C Microphone for Hi8 & Digital 8 Camcorders
From Sony

A small, lightweight microphone for camcorder / Super Uni-Directional Pickup / Phase-Tube Noise Reduction System
Brand: Sony Model: ECM-Z37C Dimensions: 2.20" h x 5.30" w x 8.50" l, .38 pounds

Works Great~ Yeah, I'm well aware that this is a "mono" mini-shotgun mike. It records good sound and is great for making a micro-budget movie. Not a stereo mic This is not a stereo microphone like Sony and Amazon web sites claim it to be. I have noticed it right away after the box has arrived. You can see for yourself that the plug is mono. I don't know why Sony claims it to be a stereo microphone on their web site. Disappointed...not a stereo microphone Sony's misleading advertisement states that this is a stereo microphone. It's not.

Tiffen Steadicam Merlin
From Tiffen

Steadicam Merlin Stabilizing System let's you "fly" wherever the scene takes you--up and down steps, indoors and outside, through crowds--almost anywhere, with precise, elegant control and ease.
Brand: Tiffen Model: Merlin Dimensions: 6.60 pounds
The Steadicam Merlin offers light, agile, and seamless shooting for today's videographer. Ultra-light and ultra-compact, the Merlin allows you to keep up with the action more easily than ever. Designed by Garrett Brown, the inventor of the original Steadicam JR, the Merlin is the next generation hand held Steadicam system. The Steadicam Merlin is designed to give you smooth, dynamic shots. Take a closer look at its functions. This stabilization system is about half the weight and four times as stable as the JR. Yet, it can move almost as smoothly as the big $60,000 rigs used in Hollywood. The Merlin let's you "fly" wherever the scene takes you -- up and down steps, indoors and outside, through crowds -- almost anywhere, with precise, elegant control and ease. Its quick release mount lets you instantly swap camera connections between your Merlin and any tripod. Merlin's design significantly reduces fatigue. It's so lightweight, it weighs less than a can of soda. With a compact DV, balanced and ready to go, the Merlin weighs about two pounds. Its rigid construction permits longer focal lengths than ever imaginable with a hand-held stabilizer. Merlin's unique dual extended weight system greatly increases inertial stability. And its counterbalancing weight can be precisely adjusted to balance cameras from 0.5 to five pounds. The new patent-pending "Folding-Caliper" hinge allows instant fold-up, perfect for shoulder-mounted shooting, and just as quickly, returns precisely for hand-held camera work. Whether you're an independent camera professional or running the corporate AV department; a wedding and event videographer or real estate agent; enthusiast or film student, the Steadicam Merlin is right for you. What's in the Box Steadicam Merlin, base unit, removable dovetail plate, one start weight, six middle weights, two end weights, camera mounting screw, locating pin, and accessory mounting tripod plate.
Amazing piece of kit, full steadicam for a fraction of the price Yes it's true, and I've tried them all. This is the one to get, no question. It takes a little bit of setting up initially, but once done for your camera once it's only fine adjustments after that. It does take a huge amount of practice to make the most of it, to really get those beautiful smooth moves, but with this piece of kit you can do it. It's incredibly small, light (unless like me you are using a Sony Z1, which is heavy and needs all the counterbalance weights) so get your arms strong, especially your wrists and you will be fine! I can only manage a few minutes at a time until I ache, but it's my first week with it, i expect i will have a tennis players serving arm within a few months! The best out there Sure, the glidecam is a couple hundred bucks cheaper, but if your camera is in the proper weight category, why not get the stabilization system from the people who wrote the book? Granted, I never had much luck with Steadicam's previous handheld systems such as the JR or the DV, but they really nailed it this time with a unit that is simple, light, and infinitely adjustable for your needs. The system of counterweights, arm and gimbal adjustments really gives you a great amount of control in finding the perfect balance for your camera and its mounted accessories. The gimbal is one of the finest designs for camera stabilization and is the core of what makes the merlin. All your hand shakes are absorbed and it allows the camera to be independent of what the rest of your body is doing. The Good: - The easiest to set up of the Steadicam handheld models - the easiest to adjust on the fly with trim rotators - The smoothest of the handheld systems - Eliminates all shakes from hand movements. - Floats all walking and running shots The So-So: - Without the arm and vest, there is still the up and down movement from walking - With larger handheld cameras such as the DVX-100, the amount of counterweights necessary make the unit a little heavier than comfy. So shooting an all day event kills the wrists - I wish there was an easier way to hold the unit when it's not in use - The unit requires such balance precision that you will need to constantly adjust the trim as minute changes occur within your camera setup, such as tiny shifts in how your mic wires sit and I bet even the running of the tape from beginning to end. Despite all my complaints, it beats the competition with its results. You have to be a magician to handle the Steadicam Merlin! The Steadicam Merlin is crazy, even insultingly expensive! It is not easy at all to set up, in fact it is a nightmare! BUT, if you are gifted at the art of physics, and have incredible patience, you will finally achieve some type of "Zen" with this thing and make it work for you. But, you'd better practice, practice, and practice. It is not just another way to hold a camera, it is an instrument that must be learned by way of practice. Did I mention practice yet? Set up, the key to know when you have it configured right on your camera is in the manual on page 25, "a properly trimmed Merlin can be panned and tilted with almost no effort on the Guide." This is how you know it is properly balanced. It will pan and tilt with almost no effort of pushing or pulling. It moves easily. You can be balanced and it still will not work, you have to be "properly balanced". The video that comes with the Merlin is ok, like a grade "C+" but falls way short to properly train us. The manual is the same. Manual and video are rough guides to how this thing works. The only way to learn is to spend time with it over and over again. What to expect for customer service? I emailed them because I thought my locating pin fell out and I thought I lost it. They told me to call the parts phone number and have my credit card ready. For $900 bucks you would think they would would send one out and thank me again for spending so much money on this tool from hell. But, atlas, once you have achieved or "earned" your Zen status with the Steadicam Merlin, the results are very good and will put the edge on your videos that will show you are a professional video magician.

Power2000 Lithium Ion Battery for Canon BP-970, BP 970G; 8000mAh
From Vidpro

Power2000 ACD-791 Extra Long-life Video, Digital Video and Digital Camera Lithium Ion (Li-ion) Battery, Replacement Battery for the Canon BP-941, 945, and 970.
Brand: VidPro Model: ACD-731

Great product, great price! This batteries are a real deal! For a fraction of what you pay for a Canon one, they worked for more than 12 hours with a Canon XH-A1 Power full and it fits I use this with the Canon XH A1. It works great, and it slides easily in and out of the camera. I have heard that with some other replacement batteries, the fit is too tight and difficult to get out of the camera once it is in. But no problem with this battery and the A1. Easily 4 hours of camera use on one charge. Very good charge at a very good price I purchased this battery as a backup to the one which came with the camera. Mine is the Canon XH G1. The battery which came along with the camera is sort of ok. And I expected this battery to be sort of less than par, but I thought I could just use it as a backup, but to my surprise, this battery was very good. Even with just a quick 45mins to 1 hr charge, I was able to get more than 3.5 hrs shoot, and I am sure I could do more than 4.5 hrs. I have tried this multiple time now and I am pretty satisfied.

Brand: Sony Model: BCV500 Format: CD Dimensions: 2.30" h x 2.70" w x 5.60" l, 1.00 pounds
It's smart to keep a fully charged spare battery with you when shooting for extended periods. And with Sony's small, lightweight and totally portable chargers you can put the power back into your Handycam camcorder quick and easy.
Compact, affordable, and VERY useful 2x over. If you are like many videographers, you have more than one battery. It's easy to start charging one, and forget to do the other. This baby will charge TWO batteries at a time. Or one if you like. I charged an FP-960 clone and FP-970 at the same time. Sony says it is ok though the web info doesn't say it is supported. Infolithium batteries practically tell the charger it is done, so it is safe. Naturally, charging two at once takes twice as long. If one battery finishes first, it trickle charges and the light goes out. Thus allowing faster charging on the other battery. Full charging is done about an hour after the light goes out. As I recall it is a max 1000ma so, there is less chance of over heating the batteries during charging, thus minimizing damage. Aside from the slower dual charge, there is nothing bad I can say about it. Folding plug prongs makes it very easy to pack. It lacks a car adaptor, but that doesn't seem needed when you have two fully charged batteries. No serious user of Info-lithium batteries should be without it! Neat, self-contained unit Traveled abroad with this. Multi-voltage, no cords (though it can obscure a 2nd socket if it has to go in the top one for any reason). Charges 2 at once, which is really convenient, but note that it takes almost 2x as long as doing one. What a great, handy charger! You just can't beat this charger! It charges 2 Sony camcorder batteries at once. It is small and easy to pack away. Great product!

Opteka Pro HD² Digital Camcorder Accessory Kit for Sony DCR-DVD910, DVD810, DVD710, DVD610, SR220, SR85, SR65, SR45, SR42, SR10, UX20, UX10, HC62, & HC52 Handycam Camcorder
From Opteka

Since it fits right over your camera's existing lens system, a wide-angle and telephoto converter affects the full zoom range of your camera's lens. A wide-angle converter increases your angle of view - scenes include more of the landscape, groups include more people, and interiors show more of the room. A .5x wide-angle converter DOUBLES your angle of view, allowing you to get twice as much in the picture (AND your telephoto setting also becomes wider; not zooming in as close). A 2x converter will double your camera's maximum focal length, bringing things twice as close. An Opteka conversion lens can actually improve the image that your digital camera receives, and it's about the only accessory that can. By eliminating flare and ghosting, the ugly cousins of reflection and refraction, before they get to your camera's original lens system, your camera gets a much cleaner image to digitize. Plus, an Opteka converter allows you to use a more optimal part of your original lens system, resulting in more crisp imagery. Enjoy all of the benefits of the Opteka HD² .5x Wide Angle & 2x Telephoto Professional Lenses, plus you get the Following Brand New Items: Opteka High Definition² Pro Filter Kit (UV, Polarizing, and fluorescent), Opteka Tabletop Tripod, 5 Piece Camera & Lens Cleaning Kit, 53" Deluxe Professional Video/Camera Tripod, and a Deluxe Carry-All Camera Case. Increase your cameras capabilities with this full accessory kit! Opteka lenses and filters are covered by a lifetime warranty.

Decent Package The lenses and minipod were cool but the tripod sucked. It was cheap and not good for pretty much any location. And it falls apart. But if you want everything else in the package then go for it. Sweet deal for the price Really... this deal opens many creative doors for the amateur "low budget" videographer. Not to mention the fact that these versatile filters and lenses are easily used, changed and stored in the included bag! Throw in a tri-pod (both floor and tabletop) and this deal gets sweeter by the minute. I did a lot of comparison shopping and for the buck this is the best I could find. Thanks also to the shipping department for making it fast, safe and sound. I've been creating videos on YouTube first without the kit and then with for comparison - wide angle rules! Accessories Do not buy this product , it is a total waste and all the components are in many cases not suitable for the camera SONY DVD DCR 408

Convenient as hell.. When I bought my Sony DCRPC-109 MiniDv about 4 years ago, I was very pleased with the product in most ways except for one: you needed to use the actual camera to charge your battery on a loading dock. Now for someone who was planning on using the camera extensively, I knew this was going to be a problem. So when I purchased a couple of back-up F-series batteries, I also bought this charger from Sony. The thing has worked perfectly for about 4 years now. With multiple batteries, I charge one with the camera and the other using this charger. So I always have a fully charged battery ready for use. If you are like me and tend to wear the battery out quickly, then it is worth the investment to get this high-quality charger along with an extra battery for your MiniDv camcorder. Well made; works great Very handy to have an off-camera means of charging my camcorder batteries. This works great, is very compact and well made. Plug it in This is a great way to charge your back up battery with no real problems. I don't leave home with out it. I will surely buy another one for my new Sony camcorder I plan on getting soon.

A perfect solution for the outdoor enthusiast seeking a simple harness system for cameras or binoculars. The BINO/CAM HARNESS self-adjusts to comfortably balance gear while in use or in the idle position against the body. The unique loop attachment system enables the harness to quickly snap in place. It's simple design and great price is sure to win approval! The elastic version allows your camera or binoculars to be held tighter against the body. While still allowing the camera or binoculars to be brought up to the eyes for use.
Color: Black Brand: Op/Tech Model: Harness Black Dimensions: .35 pounds

Elegantly simple I purchased this harness for use with my Nikon D80 and a Nikkor 18-200 lens. The camera and lens are quite bulky and heavy and I needed a solution for hiking. This elegantly simple harness works beautifully. I can carry the camera all day hiking through the Rockies without neck or back fatigue, without the camera swinging side to side or front to back and yet with it quickly and easily available for use. When I bend down to examine something or simply tie my shoe, the camera doesn't fall into the middle of whatever I'm doing. A friend bought the harness for his Nikon Stabilized binoculars and has reported back that it works beautifully with the binoculars as well. I've been delighted with my purchase. A saved neck! I recently returned from a trip to the Amazon, and Lake Titticaca where I used the OP/Tech Bino/Cam Harness. It provided great support for a faily heavy DSLR with a 18-200mmlens. Use while walking was a joy, and in boats I did not have to worry about the camera swinging wildly about when boarding a boat, or when getting off. Several people on the trip wanted to know where to get a harness for themselves, for Cameras, or Binocculars. Camera Harness This was the only elastic camera harness I could find, and it is a good one. Plenty of room to go over a winter parka, yet adjustable enough for just a T-shirt. Simple to use and adjust.

JVC VLV3U Auto Light for Camcorders
From JVC

JVC is dedicated to creating products that provide optimum performance and years of customer satisfaction. Using a JVCs camcorder

Well worth the purchase I own the JVC GR-DV2000U Camcorder (best camcorder I've ever owned). The only disappointment I've had with the camera was its slight underperformance in low light conditions. This video light takes care of this. It will come on automatically when the ambient light drops too much. A feature wich not only saves batteries but also makes for extremely easy use. You CAN set the light to always on mode (or off), but I never do.At first I was concerned about the coverage of the light. Don't get me wrong, it is very bright but it's not going to illuminate an entire room and it shouldn't. Besides, it already sucks the batteries, any brighter and your battery life would drop to nothing. The lumination it provides is perfectly balanced for the shooting of video in low light conditions. The final point I want to make is that this thing is TINY and it looks great mounted on the camcorder. Great little fill light. Great automatic fill light - powered by the camera. Only problem is that they are virtually unavailable anymore. I guess it is satisfactory I don't want to complain about this product, because it is popular and does what it says (it's a light for the camera) but if you are thinking this thing might take out the shadows that you don't want on your subject - that's not going to happen. It's just not bright enough to compete with the ambient lighting you would normally have anyway, unless you get uncomfortably close - and then you'll get an unwanted hot-spot from the beam. I haven't found the best practical purpose for this light. I still use it, and yes, it works, but eh... I wish there were another choice.

Sony HVL10NH 10W Battery Video Light for Compatible Sony Camcorders
From Sony

Battery Video Light, 10W, NiMH Battery
Brand: Sony Model: HVL10NH Original language: English Dimensions: 10.00" h x 3.00" w x 4.50" l, .75 pounds
For improved picture in dark and dimly lit areas, Sony's HVL-10NH High Power Video Light brings all your digital video recordings to life. For enhanced flexibility, the light comes with an accessory shoe adapter and Ni-MH battery drive. You can track residual battery quantity information on the LED at low power, and there is even a protection circuit (loading by voltage) with battery temperature detection to prevent the light from overheating and malfunctioning. The impressive 10 watt video light connects easily to any compatible Handycam camcorder, giving you the flexibility and enhanced recording power needed to capture spectacular-looking video in any environment. What's in the Box Video light and accessory shoe adapter.
Works Great! WITH ANY BRAND OF RECHARGABLE BATTERIES G. Sim the only other reviewer must not be able to insert the batteries correctly, because the light works wonderfully with Energizer NiMh 2500mah, Rayovac NiMh 1300mah, and my Sanyo 2000 mah batteries. There is nothing special (no special circuitry) in the Sony AA batteries. Only Sony's camcorder batteries use their INFO circuitry. DO NOT use regular dry cell alkaline batteries as they may burst due to high current draw and over heating. The light itself is so bright that you cannot look at it straight on. It is like looking into a MAG light flashlight. The only reason I gave this light a 4/5 is that it really needs a better light diffuser. There is a massive hot spot in the center of the light that the lamp provides. I would suggest going to a photography store or hit ebay for a diffuser that will fit over the front (and not melt). I would not waste 40$ on the 3watt lamp and have it drain the main camcorder battery. You will be very happy with this light. MP Sony camcorder light I found the light to be only useful for close-up work where light is required. It provides little for anything more than a close one on one video recording. And that is what I wanted it for anyway! If you have a DCR-SR40 - it's your only choice... a little heavy - and although the adapter bar is nice - it would be even nicer if the camcorder (DCR-SR40) had a 'hot shoe' to use directly with the light...I'm a little turned off that I have to use special batteries (it strongly recommends using SONY rechargeable AA alkaline batteries and warns against using regular AA alkaline batteries - so that's a minus in convenience...this is the ONLY light I was able to find that was compatible for my camcorder but overall, the lighting is good. Lastly, this was the ONLY light that SONY admits to being compatible for my camcorder - but that's more a minus for the camcorder itself I think!

Cam Caddie Camera Stabilizer
From CAM CADDIE

The Scorpion.. Universal Stabilizing Camera Handle... Now it is possible to capture the action from any angle, with improved stability and versatility. Perfect for sports, crowd shots, and those hard to reach angles allowing the camera operator to make quick and sudden movements in a smooth fashion. Multi-angle positioning plate to achieve perfect balance Additional clearance allows use of microphones and/or lights Constructed from durable ABS plastic, Strong & Light weight Soft polymer grip for Added comfort Secure grip, Will accept controllers Lifetime Guarantee Made in USA Capture the Action!
Brand: CAM CADDIE Model: CC-100 Dimensions: 1.05 pounds

Great for skate filming I've always wanted a handle like this for filming skateboarding with my friends, I have a regular consumer 3ccd video camera and all the serious filmers use the prosumer cameras with handles on them, it really does allow you to be a lot more stable than holding the video camera with your hand wrapped around it. I bought this one at a skate shop for like 70 bucks, and I see i got ripped off by that skate shop. But regardless, it has definitely made it easier for filming. The design is pretty decent, sometimes the screw that hold the camera in place is tough to put on but it is held very well, the camera doesn't budge, I can film with the little side screen open. Only thing is with my camcorder the battery release is on the underside and the battery pulls down so I can't switch batteries without unscrewing the camera from the caddie. Overall a great product I think. Cam Caddie Camera Stabilizer - pricey but ingenious I've long ago given up saying, "I wish I had thought of that". But I'm tempted this time. Having young grandkids is my main reason for this purchase. No longer do I need to video them from 6 feet off the ground. They don't see life from that perspective, so it makes sense not to record them that way. There are other good effects made possible by this gizmo, too. Shooting objects, both animate and inanimate, from low angles makes them appear larger, an effect used frequently in films. The Cam Caddie Stabilizer is made mostly of a tough plastic material with a very nice rubber-like cover on the under-side of the handle. It has plenty of holes in the platform base making balancing the camcorder pretty much a sure thing. The added weight of Cam Caddie is almost negligible, even after adding a LANC controller to the handle to make camera control more convenient. Every upside seems to have a downside, and in this case, that would be the price. Supply and demand, I suppose. But it's a great video accessory for the smaller sized camcorders, and could very well be worth the cost to many people. It was to me.CAM CADDIE CAMERA STABILIZEReBenk Universal LANC Zoom Remote Handle for Tripods handy dandy first off received caddie in record time after placing the order. I just finished filming a golf tournment last weekend. I did several low angle shots of the crowd. I am using a canon camcorder. The caddie is very easy to use, well balanced and sure saves the back as I didnt have to be bending over or stooping down for shots. Gives your films a new prospective. I would recomend the caddie to anyone who likes making , say home movies of the kids, pets, ect.

Sima SLB-M Video Bracket
From Sima

The lack of a shoe mount doesn't have to prevent the use of extra video lights. The Sima Video Bracket will fit any camcorder with a standard screw mount.
Brand: Sima Number of discs: 1 Dimensions: .46 pounds

Sima attachment bracket with 2 accessory shoes does the job I purchased this Sima accessory bracket for my Panasonic HDC-SD9 camcorder and it works fine with typical accessories. I'm waiting for a Sima IR20 lighting array and the Sima LED lighting array to use along with the bracket. Works fine for the price, similar to the other brackets out there. One note: My camcorder has an LCD screen on the left side and I had to mount the bracket on the right hand side so I could open the LCD screen when shooting video. It works out fine, I just hold the camera using the rubber grip on the bracket with my right hand instead of using the camcorder strap Would have been great - if the tripod thread was longer I purchased this two weeks ago and was concerned that the tripod screw was too short since it barely sticks up beyond the padded plate on the bottom of the bracket - but I was able to screw it into the tripod and use it during a trade-show event I was recording. BUT - once I unscrewed it from the camera after shooting with it for two days - the bracket will NOT re-attach. I think the stress it caused on the camcorders thread caused the threads inside the camcorder to 'strip' and since the tripod stud doesn't go in deep - it won't re-attach. It would have cost nothing for SIMA to include a longer stud for the tripod mount. What were they thinking. If you can get it to work with your camcorder then it's well worth it - but not worth much otherwise. Likes = two shoe-mounts allowed me to mount both a boom mic (Azden SGM-X) and an Azden wireless mic receiver (WMX_PRO). Dislikes = Stud too short and can't use on left side with most camcorders since the bracket won't clear most LCD screens, when the screens are open. Great Bracket I bought this bracket to use with my Canon FS10 Flash Memory Camcorder. I find it difficult to use the mini-cams hand strap to hold the camera while operating the zoom and other buttons and still hold a steady shot. The bracket makes holding the camera steady far easier. Once I had the bracket in hand however, I also found it a great help on my Canon 5d Mark II. It provides a great platform to hold an external microphone. (the 5D mark II shoots Hi-Def Video and stereo sound with an external microphone) The bracket, as a bonus, makes holding the 5D steady on a shot easier as well. I bought two more brackets. Great price and very sturdy. I read the earlier review regarding tripod screw length; I had no problem mounting this bracket on any of 4 cameras.

Canon Camcorder Soft Carrying Case
From Canon Video

Durable black nylon construction provides a safe, dry place to store your camcorder and accessories. Features leather trim, leather handle, pockets and many compartments. Approx. Size: 12"(W) x 7"(D) x 6 1/2"(H)
Brand: Canon Model: A20

Carring Case is so big to hold the ES8200V camcorder Guy,I do not recomend to purchase this product with the ES8200v because is too big to secure the camcorder. I expected to fit exactly to ensure that the camera is not going to move inside the case. This model of case is designed more for a VHS camcorder. NOT AS PICTURED... The Canon Camcorder Soft Carrying Case I received was much smaller and so unbelievably compatable with my Canon DC210 Camcorder. Compact and easy but snug fit that will allow to be zipped up and protected from the elements. I love it!!

NOT compatible with the DCR-DVD7 This product link needs to be corrected, as the battery contained in the kit is NOT the same battery which is used in the DCR-DVD7. Do not purchase this accesory kit if you intend to use it for the DCR-DVD7 camera. GREAT!!! I am EXTREMELY pleased with this product. I purchased it 3 years ago and it is still working perfectly!!! Everything I needed I just bought 2 Handycam 505 from Sony. Spending so much on a product I wanted something to protect it and I got it with this accessory kit. From the extra battery to the extra disk, I was able to start recording the first day.

Sony VCT870RM Tripod w/Remote for Sony MiniDV, DVD, HDR-HC5 & HC7 Camcorders
From Sony

The VCT-870RM features a built in level and two-way pan head that lets you scan landscapes and shoot portraits. The remote control grip lets you control zoom, record, start, stop, and lock/standby features.
Brand: Sony Model: 870RM Original language: English Dimensions: 5.20" h x 5.50" w x 26.80" l, 1.00 pounds
Keep your camcorder steady and ready for action with our remote-control tripod. A built-in level and two-way pan head let you scan landscapes and shoot portraits faster and easier. The remote-control grip lets you control zoom, record, start, stop, and lock or standby features without touching the camcorder, which makes for steadier shots.
Outstanding Value in a tripod. Controller works with Sony and Canon but not Panasonic Pros pay $600 and more (even much more)for tripod legs and head. The two main problems with cheaper tripods are lack of stability in the legs and "stiction" in the head movement. The lack of stability comes from lightweight, bendable legs. If you bump the tripod with your knee, or grab the handle without care, you'll see shake in the video. "Stiction" is the tendency of of the materials in the head to bind together slightly when left in a position for a few moments. The result is a visible jerk in the video when you start a pan or tilt movement. True fluid heads have a viscous fluid between the solid parts to provide smooth drag without binding. With the VCT-870RM Sony has somehow managed to produce an inexpensive tripod that doesn't stick. My pans and tilts are as smooth with it as they are with my 40 pound Bogen-Manfrotto legs and head. There is no getting around the fact that although well-built, the legs are lightweight. Therefore I have to take extra care to grasp the handle gently, and not to bump the tripod. But this is not hard, and it's worth it. It is so much easier to carry around the VCT-870RM than my pro tripod that it is almost always the one I grab when I'm going out for a single camera shoot. And I use it with expensive cameras--a Canon GL2 or a Sony VX2100. The controller on the handle is a totally unique and great extra. Being able to control the zoom from the handle gives much better results with much more comfort than reaching over with the other hand for the on-camera control. There is also a record/pause switch, a power standby switch and a still photo button. It plugs into the LANC control port on the camera. As mentioned above, Sony and Canon both operate according to the LANC standard, but Panasonic does not. I don't know about JVC. With the crank-controlled vertical column the tripod is able to attain more than enough height. I'm 6'2" and I only crank it up very little. I like it so much that I also bought one for my school's video club, and anticipate buying another. Highly recommended. Sony VCT870RM Tripod w/Remote Tripod is stable. It has strong locking mechanism on the legs. Pan and tilt is very adjustable for smooth movement. Locking mechanism for camera (Sony 403) is easy to connect and engage. Remote control functions and handle are easy to operate and worked with no problems. A Gem I was a bit tenative about writing this revierw lest the world know our secret - and then they'd all have one too. We were looking for something to put under our PD170 and stubled upon this beauty. The construction quality is solid and as a unit the tripod is stable. The fluid head panning is just about as good I could expect. Smooth and steady. The tripod shoe is nice and has a cork pad to protect the bottom of your camera. The tripod would be a good buy for just its basic features, but what sets it apart is the LANC remote control built into the handle. Its great. LANC (or Control-L) compatable cameras are made by Sony (this is a Sony product) and Cannon and some others. On the handle you have a On/Standy switch, a Record button, a Photo button, and a Zoom rocker. For the stuff we've done so far its supeer. I can keep my hands on the handle get the shots I want. The remote control makes the makes using the camcorder on the tripod a slick experience. The only thing that would make this a better deal is if they added a Focus Control to the remote. As far as usage - the only other issue is it took a while to get a feel for how much to tighten the tilt knob to lock it down - i didn't want to over-torque it and break something and didn't want the camera slowly moving either - but once you get the feel its fine. This tripod is a good buy. But don't feel like you have to run out and get one. We like being the only cool and geeky ones.

Sony CSS-HD2 Cyber-shot Station For Sony T300, T70, W170, W150 and W120 Digital Cameras
From Sony

2008 Cyber-shot camera models have the perfect home companion: the CSS-HD2 Cyber-shot Station unit that stays connected to your TV for easy photo viewing and recharges your Cyber-shot camera battery up to 30 percent more quickly than standard battery charger units. The stylish design looks great and provides a convenient place to keep your camera-and you'll have wireless remote control operation of advanced camera playback functions, plus the convenience of a single HD component A/V cable hookup to your Sony BRAVIA or other compatible HDTV for truly spectacular photo viewing.
Brand: Sony Model: CSS-HD2 Released on: 2008-02-27 Dimensions: 3.50" h x 6.50" w x 9.70" l, 3.00 pounds

You definitely want this to get the most from your Cybershot After using for 4 months, I can't imagine being without it. Prior to getting this accessory, viewing the camera's videos and still photos was cumbersome, to say the least. Imagine crouching down in front of the TV and operating the controls from this tiny camera; that is, AFTER connecting and plugging in the necessary cables each time you want to show them. then disconnecting again when you're done. To say nothing of having to open the camera and pop out the battery for charging it in its own little wallcharger: what an annoyance. Don't forget to replace the battery before running out of the house with the camera, either! And this accessory also includes the component cables, which seperately cost over $30. If you own a DSC T300 or similar Cybershot and have shelled out over $500 (including MemorySticks, extra battery, case, etc.) then PLEASE spend an extra $55 on this very necessary accessory. At least necessary if you want to make using the camera and it's photos/videos much easier and more pleasant. It's so nice to just stick the camera into this station for recharging, when you come home with it; maybe have a quick look at the photos or video you just shot; And then, just leave it there, where you know you can always find it and grab it on your way out of the house. The extra expense for this item is a no-brainer. Important Review Anyone looking to get this docking station should be aware that this docking station, unlike other docking stations, will NOT connect to your computer. For this sole reason I gave it 3 stars. Charging your camera and watching HD video and your pictures on a TV is a breeze with this docking station. It is very attractive and can match the T500 or T300 if you have it. I use it for the T700 and it looks very sleek. However, I used to have the CSS-TNA for my DSC-N1 and it connected to the computer as well as charged the camera and could also connect to a TV if needed. So, if you need a docking station for Charging Viewing pictures on a TV Viewing Video on a TV Then this is your best choice. If you are looking for something that will charge your camera and let you transfer pictures and video to your computer then this docking station will disappoint you greatly. Great! Purchased the dock so my wife could easily pre-view our photos on her HD TV. After deleting unwanted photos and editing for red eye, etc. I transfer them to my Mac for any further tweaking and storage then sync them to her beloved Apple TV as part of her video photo album. Also, having the camera sitting in the dock always ready has saved many moments of panic when we need to grab the camera and go. A neat product well worth the money.

Canon BP-819 Lithium Ion Battery Pack for HF10 and HF100 Camcorders
From Canon Video

Take advantage of uninterrupted power with the BP-819 power pack. Times vary depending on camcorder.
Brand: Canon Model: 2589B002 Dimensions: .30 pounds

The natural Choice to make This is the battery that should come with your video camera by default. What do you do if you want to record events that last longer than 1.5 hours ? You upgrade the battery, right. The BP-827 (4.5h) is not easy available yet everywhere so the BP-819 becomes the only choice. It can last close to 3h and thats enough to capture most events. (Fireworks, school event of your kid, concerts, theatre etc.). With the external charger the battery is charged in roughly the same time (3h) with the cameras included charger its taking 4h. Indispensable The battery that comes with Canon HF10 doesn't last enough in a day recording. So, an extra battery is indispensable. This one last about 2 hous. It's a little expensive, and unfortunately its bigger and comes out of the camera. If you have the HF100 model, this battery is only available in black, not matching the camera's color. Terrific buy! This battery is the best investment you can make for your HF-100. Whereas the default battery lasts under an hour, this one lasts easily over two hours with very little extra weight. It is a little larger but I find the larger size actually helps me stabilize while using the camera by placing my thumb under the battery. I wouldn't own the HF-100 camera without this battery.

Sony LCS-SRC Carrying Case for HDD Handycam Camcorders
From Sony

This versatile case provides quick access to your camcorder's hand strap even when closed. Features an updated webbing interface design for attaching the included spare battery pouch or other cases. Comes with a shoulder strap and belt loop.
Color: Black Brand: Sony Model: LCS-SRC Format: CD Dimensions: 4.53" h x 4.72" w x 9.45" l, .77 pounds

The best case for HDR-SR11/12 It fits my new SR11 perfectly --very intelligently designed. Not for the person that likes to carry tons of stuff with them. All you really need is the camera, 8GB card (in camera) and an extra battery and you're good to go. Comes with a strap but not sure I'll use it. The slit in the side lets you use the handle of the camera to carry to cam & case. I love it. 1 WEEK IN DISNEY I bought this case for my SONY HDR SR-11 when we went to Disney World for our honeymoon. I would say after a week of use in all the parks (except blizzard beach and typhoon lagoon), this case did a good job of protecting my camcorder. I did not use the strap, I had it on my belt all the time. PROS: - not too bulky, perfect fit for the SR-11 - did not have to remove when going on Disney attraction rides (even everest). - the extra battery pouch was useful, since a single battery is not enough for a whole day in the parks. CONS: - camera barely fits the case whenever I had the wide angle lens on together with the supplied NP-FH60 battery - camera wouldn't fit if you have wide angle lens on and an extended life battery NP-FH100 (with cover adjusted) - it did not look good on pictures having this on my waist, with me and my wife together (that is why four stars only) This is convenient if you are just going to be the cameraman but I would probably not use this again in our next vacation since you cannot just remove this when you also would want to be in the pictures. I bought a Kata slingcase which is more convenient for me. In case you decide to use this, I would recommend using a shoulder strap for your camera too. Small, Secure and Perfect I own the SR220 handycam, and bought this because I didn't want one of those giant gymbag-type carrying cases. This case is perfect! Its very light, and is barely larger than the camera. There's room for an extra battery, and that's it. So if you own an HDD camera and don't need to carry around tons of accessories, I would highly recommend this case.

Sony VCLHG0862 High-Grade Teleconversion Lens for the HDR-FX7 Camcorder
From Sony

Sony VCL-HG0862 High-Grade Wide Conversion Lens
Brand: Sony Released on: 2007-02-15 Original language: English Dimensions: .0" h x .0" w x .0" l, .90 pounds

Great Option! This adapter accuratey addresses one of the two drawdacks of the HDR-FX7 Camcorder. The fixed mount lens and the lack of balanced external audio inputs. At 0.8x maginification the adapter gives me just enough more wide angle I need and without significant distortion(s) or loss. It is quick and easy to attach and stow but the original "matte box"/cap must be removed and does not attach to the adapter (though if it did, it would probably cause some vignette). As for the audio, I built my own adapter allowing independent channels for both dynamic and condenser microphones.

True to size I've purchased other screen protectors that claim to be a certain size but have to be trimmed. Then I experience fit problems. These were at least true to size and a bit easier to attach to the screen, though I always seem to end up with a bubble here and there. Perhaps it's just me...(?) The mic looks great when you put a mic (flag, cube) on it and you still have room to hold it. A+ sony. Now the only thing from making this thing the ultimate would be a Shure sm-58 element. Still the vocals are warm and crisp..

Canon DVD Starter Kit for Select Canon DVD Camcorders

Wrong battery for the DC330 camcorder The Amazon Technical spec is wrong. Compatible with: DC10/DC20/DC22/DC40/DC50/DC100/DC210/DC220/DC230/DC310/DC320/DC330 The battery included doesn't work with the Canon DC330 1.07MP DVD Camcorder with 48x Optical Zoom or I suspect the DC320. As I needed this bag to give with the DC330 camcorder as a gift, I hoped to be able to return just the battery, which amazon wouldn't allow. Now I'm out of pocket and without a spare battery. Couldn't live without it I really like the camera case and appreciate the sale and the extras that come with it. I got tired of trying to protect my camera with soft rags and bags and it fits in this case perfect. I am real proud of it. I can carry it with me now with no fear of damaging my camera. GREAT DEAL I couldn't believe what a great deal this was. I got my case,my battery and my DVD's and I have already used them it was a great value for the money.

JVC CU-VD20 Share Station DVD Burner for Everio Camcorders
From JVC

For burning Everio footage directly to a DVD, JVC offers the optional CU-VD20 SHARE STATION, a DVD burner that eliminates the need for a PC when creating DVDs. The new CU-VD20, which can be used to create DVD Video discs or digital still data discs, connects directly to the Everio camcorder or the Everio dock via a USB 2.0 connection. DVD burning is a simple three-step process that is controlled from the camcorder, converting Everio video files automatically for playback on most DVD players.
Brand: JVC Model: CU-VD20 Share Station Dimensions: 10.40" h x 5.80" w x 17.80" l, 5.50 pounds

JVC CU-VD20 Share Station DVD Burner We purchased this DVD burner in conjunction with a matched JVC Video camera, and must state that it works as advertised. Of its many assets are the ability to burn to DVD any picture and/or video without the need of computer. This is a big plus on vacation trips away from the home. The interfacing with the camara's docking station is intuitive and the transfer itself is handled seemlessly from the camara's lcd screen. The only negative (minor at that) is that it requires one to purchase -R DVD disk. It has been my experience that the +R disk are the format that the more modern stand alone DVD players prefer. This drive/burner does not work on the +R format. That being said, with the proper software on the home computer - the conversion to the +R format is really only one step removed. We went on a one week vacation, and this product allowed me to download content off of the camera's hard drive, thus keeping the camara clean and functioning smoothly. It can as well server as a playback unit using the camara's lcd as a display in cases where you do not have access to a television with RCA input jacks. It is a useful tool, but useful in given circumstances. 7 of 10 stars on performance.JVC CU-VD20 Share Station DVD Burner for Everio Camcorders Worked very well and can be used by someone not computer saavy just no Photograph transfer which is curious. Worked very well and can be used by someone not computer saavy just no Photograph transfer which is curious. The Dvd will record dvd-r without much work and practically no work if you are just copying all that is on your video camera, it just fills and closes the first dvd and asks for others until it is done(ours needed 3 dvd's to get all from camera. One surprising although not critical omission is that the dvd's don't include the still photographs that you have on the camera, you have to use an sd card in the camera and switch so that all picts are stored on the sd card. ALSO... the everio camera my father in law has will only use up to a 1 gig sd card so if you are having trouble using a sd 2 gig etc, that is the problem. JVC Everio CU-VD20 = piece of junk! Bought this item along with new Video Camera about 2 years ago (2007). I have burned several home videos of various events on to 12 different DVD's over this 2 year period of time. Just recently when I went to burn some video onto DVD again, I started encountering the "disc not recognized" type errors. I know there's nothing wrong with the disc's as they are all from the same spindle. But, I tried a different disc... same thing. Very disappointed in the reliability of this product. I will say that it worked just fine, when it worked, but this is inexcusable. A product should last longer than 2 years, especially when you spend $200+ for it. Lesson learned, and I won't be buying any other JVC products in the near future. Now I'm worried about how long my JVC Camera will last. If you own this JVC Everio CU-VD20 DVD burner, and have not had any problems with it - be warned that your time is coming.

Bait-and-switch! This product is listed as a battery charger for the Sony NP-FH series battery. The one sent to me by BargainCell was for a Canon BP2L, an entirely different style battery with charging elements placed on the sides not in the center of the battery's front edge as on the Sony. Seller refused to return. I had to file a complaint with Amazon. I would expect this type of bait-and-switch followed by poor customer service from eBay, but this is Amazon. eBay is quickly tanking, I hope Amazon doesn't take in all of eBay's hustler-sellers. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND DOING BUSINESS WITH BARGAIN CELL FOR THIS ITEM. Battery charger for FH series Sony batterys Watch what you buy. The automobile portion is ONLY for slected battery models not all. If you have a Sony fh50 or higher batt it will not charge in the car. A Must For On The Go Purchased the charger from Nextop2100, arrived 6 days earlier than expected at a great price. The charger is not manufactured by Sony, but fits and works great with my Sony Camcorder batteries, ideal for when traveling with the included car adapter, and for while in Europe with the included plug and 110v-240v charger.

Excellent quality... no gripes I'm using this for my Olympus E-410 and its accessories and lenses, its an effing good case. I'de buy this model again without any hesitation and recommend it for anyone needing a good, tough, medium sized case. Has enough room for 2, maybe 3 lenses + camera and various other goodies. nice bag the bag is nice it is a little small for a slr with a couple attachments but all in all it is a nice bag

Very nice product While I haven't used any other tripods, I am fully satisfied with this one! I bought this tripod specifically to use with my new DSC-R1 camera. It was listed as the preferred tripod in the camera's accessories book, and seemed to have a lot of nice features, so I figured I would give it a shot. The tripod is extremely light weight, and is ideal for taking on hikes or walks. It comes with a little bag to carry it in, which conveniently fits over your shoulder and hangs behind your back. It has a quick-mount for the camera (i.e. a little piece that you screw onto the bottom of your camera that can easily be put on and taken off of the tripod, so you only have to spend about 2 seconds mounting the camera onto the tripod at any given time. To assemble the tripod out of its container from fully compact size to fully assembled size takes all of 10 seconds. You unhook each of the leg pieces and let them slide to full length. You then tighten those leg pieces and pull the legs out until they click into place. Despite its light weight, it is quite sturdy. It's also very customizable as to height or camera orientation (you can just about get any shot or angle that you want). It tilts on all axis and can get as low as 7 inches off of the ground. All in all, this is a great tripod. Again, I haven't tried any others, but this tripod has yet to disappoint. Very light and strong feel I bought this tripod for my Nikon D80 with 18-135mm kit lens. It holds D80 very well and the weight of the tripod itself is light for travel. Highly recommended. Light and useful great tripod... just what I was looking for... Highly recommended for prof. use...

Awesome5
Fantastic product. We bought this while looking for one of those mini tripods that you can velcro to another object and found this to be much better. The grip is strong and most situations can be accommodated. It's a little pricey, but well made so very much worth the cost. Older, heavier cameras may tend to overwhelm it in some positions, but for the most part, it works great. If nothing else, it replicates a "traditional" tripod well, and the added bending and gripping feature really makes the difference. I no longer have to balance the camera on the hood of the car with sticks and rocks to get a good photo of us during our travels. Everywhere we go, somebody stops us to ask where to get one... it's quite a spectacle.

I ordered an extra shoe so we can transfer the gorillapod from her camera to mine. If you're in the market for a new camera, try and get one with the tripod mounting shoe somewhat centrally located on the bottom of the camera. My fiance's camera has the tripod mount on one side so the camera wants to lean to the other side. Fortunately, the gorillapod is strong enough to resist this.

Best tripod on the market!!5
I still can't believe that this thing is real! And I'm blown away by the quality of the tripod.

The 'legs' are stiff enought that it doesn't fall out of shape as it holds the camera. Each little grey ring around the ball-like pieces are rubberized to help it grip onto objects. I have been able to mount my Canon SD600 and hold one 'foot' of the tripod while it remains in the shape I bent it into. The leg didn't change shape or sag at all.

I've had it on top of my LCD, hung it from a doorway, sitting on top of a lamp... I think the legs are long enough and the feet are 'grippy' enough to mount it to the side of a bowling ball!

The clip on top lets you mount and dismount the camera quite easily and without hassle. The only problem I could see is that with the mounting clip attached to the camera I can't put the camera in the fitted Canon carrying case that I have for the SD600. Well, it fits with it on, but very snug.

I can't stress how much I love this little tripod!! Get one; you won't be disappointed!

Probably the best of the supercompact tripods5
As long as you don't expect the world of the Gorillapod, it won't disappoint. I've had a slew of small tripods for years (to match my succession of digital cameras; I'm tough to please). The Ultrapods are good, sturdy and stable, but not as versatile as this. For me, the biggest feature has to be the quick-release shoe. My full-size tripods have always had this feature, but I've never been able to find it on the minis. It's extremely useful. No more struggling with screwing the tripod in when you need to take that quick picture, desperately trying to keep from cross-threading the plastic mounting threads common on today's cameras. The Gorillapod snaps onto the camera in about three seconds. This won't hold my camera as still as my 4-pound tripods, but it's a heck of a lot lighter and easier to carry with me all the time. While Joby lists the maximum weight capacity as 12 ounces, my camera still works fine despite being a couple of ounces over that. If there's one thing I don't really like, it's that it does take a bit of fiddling to straighten out the legs after use. But if you're not obsessively neat, you probably won't mind some slightly crooked legs. If you really want a bit more stability, see the Gorillapod SLR. A quarter pound heavier and twice the price, but when you need it, sometimes you need to bite the bullet.

Significantly outperforms the Sony FM70 it replaces. Will save you space.5
This is an fantastic replacement battery for the FM70. I recently purchased a Sony HDR-XR520V HD camcorder. When using a Sony FM70 battery, on full charge, I get 145 minutes of HD video recording. With this battery I was amazed to see 210 minutes. It's well worth the cost AND it's cheaper than the actual FM70 itself.

Better yet you wont find yourself wanting to buy an FM100 (which is huge) as this adds enough runtime over the FM70 to make anyone happy. With two of these you won't find yourself running out of power for a days worth on non-stop video capture.

I ran the battery empty twice on a recent trip to Vegas and each charge gave the full runtime. Not much of a test of quality but I have no reason to doubt it won't continue to perform well for a long time to come.

  • Model: BBA
  • Format: CD
  • Dimensions: 3.60" h x 5.00" w x 9.80" l, .40 pounds

The Sony LCSBBA is a light duty case3
This is a very basic light duty soft case and it will accommodate any of the small Sony camcorders. It will save your camcorder fron getting scratched or from slight bumps. It offers no protection against drops or hard hits, since it has almost no padding. It is also bulky, but on the positive side it fits my Sony HDR-CX12 sitting on top of the docking station, cables and a spare battery. This case is just a zippered box with no additional compartments.

light duty review spot on3
It's a bit larger than expected and no compartments. Disappointed at the lack of padding but it's just an organizational case and nothing more. I would not purchase this product again.

A little bigger than I had intended3
This case was quite a bit bigger than what I had imagined. I have a very small camera and this case is way too big. It doesn't allow me to throw it into my purse - too bulky. Probably nothing wrong with the case itself, just wasn't what I was looking for.

Sony Carrying Pouch for Sony Handycam® Camcorder (Blue)
From Sony

Bag in bag carrying pouch to protect your handycam camcorder.

  • Color: Blue
  • Brand: Sony
  • Model: LCS-BBD/L
  • Dimensions: 8.66" h x 3.15" w x 5.51" l, .15 pounds

Perfect for small camcorders5
This carrying pouch is the perfect size for the newer, smaller camcorder. I have the XR520V and it fits perfectly. There is not room for anything else, but since the battery life is long and there are not tapes or discs required to record, there is nothing else you would need to put in it besides the camcorder. The pouch feels like neoprene, soft and lightweight.

Just what we were looking for...5
This case is very small and is made to just fit your camcorder. It is made of a neoprene type of material. I bought the Sony HDR-XR500, and it fits around it perfectly. No there are no additional pockets for storage. This case is made so that you can put the camera in a purse or bag...or even a jacket pocket, and not carry around a bulky, larger case. This is perfect for portability.

Well Made5
Small, well made case that does the intended job. Fits my Handycam HDR-CX100 with a little room to spare. Adjustable handle with velcro is a nice feature as is the dual connected zippers that open the case lid from the center out.

Extend the range of Nightshot system from 10 feet to 100 feet with this IR light, featuring, infrared emission for shooting in total darkness and adjustable light output. Powered by 2 AA batteries or InfoLithium L series battery packs.

Basically does the job...4
Ordered this light for myself for Christmas. I have a Sony DCR-HC30 camcorder, and the built-in IR light source (one LED) is woefully inadequate for anything that's more than about 3 feet away.

The HVL-IRM light mounts on the (non-hot) shoe on top of my camcorder just fine, and the screw-clamp on the light locks it in place. It also comes with a black aluminium mounting bracket to allow the light to be attached to a camera that has no accessory shoe.

I tried the light with both NiMH and Alkaline batteries (I don't have the Sony battery pack) and it appears to work equally well with either type. The unit appears to have a step-up converter inside, to run the 8 LEDs from such a low voltage. There is a rotary brightness control on the front, which is quite effective. The locking on/off switch is also cool. Build quality is nice, like you'd expect from Sony. The light is quite small and lightweight.

The claim is that it works up to 100 feet. I found that the light has quite a narrow beam pattern, which is about the same width as having the zoom on my camcorder at 50%. Shooting at less than this focal length and you see a distinct, lighted square in the centre of the picture. The 100' maximum is wishful thinking, unless you're happy with a faintly lighted, grainy picture. I could barely make out the features on the house behind mine, ~60' away.

I haven't tested the light extensively yet, but initial tests in the back yard indicate that it would be best for shooting specific objects or subjects about 10-30 feet away, rather than a wide-angle scene that's happening directly in front of the camera; which is what I was hoping for. (I almost always use my camera with a x0.6 wide angle adapter fitted.)

I will try to update this review when I've used the light some more...

Paranormal Investigator Review of HVLIRM Light5
I purchased this light to use with my Sony DCR-HC28 MiniDV camcorder. It is attached using the provided accessory shoe bar. It can also be attached to an accessory shoe on any camera because it's universal and not the Sony proprietary hot shoe design. It's mounted or un-mounted quickly.

The light will run on either a Sony Li-Ion battery or AA batteries making this truly versatile. A Li-Ion battery is not included but can be purchased separately at Amazon.com or eBay. What's great about this is you can load 2 AA batteries and the Li-Ion batteries at the same time. Then, when either dies you just flip a switch and begin using the other power source. This is important when your in a place with allot of activity and don't want to loose a minute of usable video.

The illumination is fine for indoor use. It can be adjusted from low to high depending on how reflective the surfaces are at the place being investigated. The light is projected in more of a flashlight style beam. This is different from the SIMA light which projects in a floodlight style.

Overall, this is a great IR light and a critical addition to my equipment lineup.

SOny HVLIRM External IR Light4
I purchased this IR light to use my camcorder in darkness. It works pretty well. It emits a "spot" type light - similar to a flashlight - and will illuminate objects 20 - 25 feet away using my JVC GZ-MS100 in night mode or with the shutter set to 1/15 sec or slower. Much farther than 25 feet and the illumination falls off sharply. I like the two battery system of the Sony - it uses 2 AA batteries which install internally, and uses an optional external Sony battery pack that clips to ther rear of the unit. I filmed using the Sony IR light for 8 hours continuously and used only 20% of the optional external Sony battery power.

In comparrison, I also purchased a SIMA SL 20IR, and an SL 10IR. The 10IR was useless - it had 9 LEDs arranged in a 3X3 matrix, but only the center LED illuminated. Maybe the unit was deffective; I returned it. In contrast, the 20IR worked well. It has 12 LEDs in a 6X6 matrix, and they all illuminated. It produces a "flood" type pattern of light that also illuminates out to about 20 - 25 feet. In one case, I used both the Sony (as an IR spotlight) and the SIMA (as an IR floodlight) simultaneously and got great results - sort of like having your car's high and low beams on at the same time.

The Sony HVLIRM IR light is a good external light source that gives you a spotlight type IR light source. It is well built and has two battery power options - both of which can be used using the switch on the unit - slide to the "A" position to use the AA batteries, and slide to the "B" position to use the optional external Sony battery pack (that you can purchase separately). The external battery and its optional charger are not cheap, but the battery pack fits other Sony camcorders, and it provides many hours hours of run time (estimated 36+ hours) for the IR unit before it needs a charge.
